A selection of systems suggested by Michele Cosci

Those systems were selected by Michele for their completeness and versatility. Another fundamental parameter that influenced the choice made from Michele was easy of use, this last is very important because playing billiards you can get nervous and you have a limited amount of time to hit the ball, so you need a count that must be easy.

THE "BEAUTIFUL" REBOUND

The white hits the yellow with a top english to force it to follow quickly the yellow and rebound on it. First goal is to see if we will hit the white adding undesired english, and to see if we didn't impact the yellow full: this is verified by the path that the white ball trace after the impact. Other goal is to rebound as close as possible to the dot where the red ball is placed at the beginning of the match.

I DON'T HIT BALL BUT I'M HAPPY

Yellow ball will pass behind the white without hitting it. First goal is to see if we will hit the white adding undesired english, this is verified by the path that the white ball trace after the impact. Second goal is to verify that on both sides the path traced by the yellow will be possibly the same.

TEST OF 20

Border of yellow ball must be tangent to the line that links 20 on the left long rail with 20 of the bottom short rail. The white ball indeed must follow the line between 20 of right long rail and 11 on upper short rail. We'll hit the ball with medium strength and we'll watch at the path followed. Then you repeat the exercise inverting the positions from left to the right and then you compare result obtained, both the paths must be the more similar as possible.

THE FRIEND LINE

You put the ball near the long rail at a distance of half a ball from the rail. Shoot with maximum strength in direction to the opposite short rail trying to keep the distance of the ball from the long rail the same in every trajectory that was traced. It's a tough result to obtain because of the strength of the shot and frequently comes up an undesired english that causes a variation from the desired path. If you will be able to mantain the ball near the long rail you will be satisfied and you are sure that your shot is not affected by undesired english and direction shifts. Repeat the exercise near the opposit long rail and verify differences and similarities to draw the appropriate conclusions.

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEFT ENGLISH AND RIGHT ENGLISH

We place the ball in central position and we let start a fast shot towards the front short rail aiming in the middle of the pair of pins placed near the front short rail. The distance among the pins is a little bit more than a ball. The path followed must be the same on the right side so as on the left side, if this doesn't happen it means that on one side we used more or less english than the other side.

LET ENGLISH COME INTO US

We place the ball in central position under the position of red pin. a shot is made with an english that must be calculated based on the position of the opponent ball and based on to the speed of the shot to be performed. In the drawing we have placed four possible examples but it can be performed in any position with any speed. If we can hit the ball having given the right english and the correct speed, then the english will have entered into us ...

ROTATION

To be able to send the red ball on the pins row, it is necessary to do the exact opposite of what would happen to us natural to think (i.e. hit the yellow to his right). Hit half a ball to the left that's it! this is because by hitting the yellow from the left side of the billiards we send it to the right and being attacked to the ball this is sent to the left just enough to send it on the pins row.

LOW - TOP ENGLISH

On a direct shot hitting a full opponent ball with a path that after 3 rails will hit the red pin, we observe what happens if by hitting the cue ball we impart bottom english or top english. In the first case (bottom) the shot will result wide. Imparting top english instead the path will be narrow.

HOW FORCE ACTS ON A RAIL

From picture we can easily understand how increasing force acts to ball path on the table. Supposing that "force close an angle" the more strength you'll apply the more the path will result narrow.

HOW FORCE ACTS ONTO THE RAILS ANGLE

From picture we can easily understand that happens exactly the opposite respect the preceeding example. The reason is that in this case the rail that is responsible to close the angle is the second rail. this because the small distance between long and short rail does not permit the deviation of ball's trajectory On the other side, in the long path between the short and the opposite long rail the angle has sufficient time to close his trajectory and let the path be wider.

DIFFERENT IMPACTS USING SAME FORCE

Let's consider a direct shot in the direction of the long rail on a path that is directed after 3 rails on the red pin. If we hit the opponent's ball with a soft cue hit, we will have a correct trajectory.On the other hand, if the impact with the opponent is more rigid, the shot closes decisively his trajectory, excluding any possibility to perform the shot on the red pin. Everything happens even if the strength, in the two shots, is exactly the same.
